Beginning from making Christmas gifts for the family, Ava V. G. has started making candles and has started a business. After a year of selling candles on Facebook and Instagram and making deliveries, this has become her main hobby. She says, “The main purpose for the candle company is to make money for the RCMS Washington DC trip.”
One year later, during the hassle of the seventh grade first period class, Ava Van Grouw is quietly working on her English assignment while she is lightly bouncing on a Trideer balance ball. As I ask her why she likes candle making above all the other options, she says, “I like making candles because I like mixing the scents and making different scents.” Her favorite scent is Hawaii, and her most popular scent is Alaska. Ava says it is a lot of work, but it turns out to be worth it.
The scents that are available are Hawaii, Midwest, The South, Oregon Froot Loop, and Alaska. If you would like to purchase some of her candles, go to her mom’s Instagram account: @Tarahvangrouw.
