One day when Rachel A. was 3, Rachel’s mom thought it was a good idea to put her in a ballet class. Rachel loved it. Aside from the dance class, when Rachel went to see a musical, it inspired her to want to become a part of the performing arts industry.
Now after 10 years, Rachel’s been dancing ballet and tap! Rachel’s favorite movie is Mean Girls. She has two French bulldogs. She’s been to many places such as Belize, Hawaii, and so much more. Rachel told me an interesting thing about herself. She says, “I was held back in preschool.” When asked to give more info on what happened in preschool, Rachel says, “I never really paid attention and my mom really didn’t think I was ready for kindergarten.”
Today, Rachel dances ballet and tap. Her favorite style of dance is a form of ballet: pointe. Rachel dances at Dance Spectrum in Beaumont. Although none of her friends here at RCMS dance with her, she still really enjoys it. She usually practices around 3 hours per week. Doing dance and watching different shows has inspired her to want to become a professional ballerina. Rachel remarked, “Dance is fun and gives me something to do.”
Rachel’s done a couple of shows and recitals. When she was around 5 years old, she did Cinderella. When she was around 7, she did The Nutcracker. Then when she was 9 years old, she did Alice in Wonderland. Now at the age of 13, she is working on The Nutcracker once again. Rachel considers herself a pretty good dancer, and so do others. Rachel told me that her friends support her a lot.
One of Rachel’s goals is to get into Juilliard and become a professional actor/dancer. Juilliard is a highly competitive school for performing arts with an acceptance rate of 5 to 8 percent. Rachel has a huge passion for dance if you couldn’t already tell.
Rachel’s close friend Alyssa made remarks about Rachel’s passion for dance. She said “Rachel is nice, kind, funny, and is a good friend. She does this weird dance move that I can’t do. It’s weird, but totally cool!!! She always talks about ballet and says how much she loves it, and I think she is crazy for dancing that long [3 hours].”
Rachel loves dancing, and sharing her love for dance with all her friends. Her friends support her and agree with all her dancing decisions.
never new this about Rachel, pretty interesting!!
I think this article is great, and i learned a thing or two about Rachel.
I love to dance also, especially ballet and pointe. I'm performing in a nutcracker too but it is a different one.
This really captures Rachel's character! Great job!
