Top 10 Foods/Desserts to Eat in Perú

Trying new foods is always a treat. Are you going to visit Perú any time soon? Try these top ten foods and desserts to eat in Perú!


Foods

1. Arroz chaufa

Arroz chaufa; fried rice. Peruvian fried rice is delicious! With cooked chicken, garlic, soy sauce, rice, eggs, and choice vegetables, whoever tries Arroz chaufa is sure to be delighted.






2. Papa rellena

Papa rellena is a baked potato stuffed with meat of choice. Making papa rellena is hard work but once it is made and ready to eat, it will be super yummy. *Try papa rellena with the meat as ground beef and eat it with rice!




3. Arroz con pollo

Arroz con pollo, or rice with chicken is something you must try. It may be green, but that only adds to the flavor. The bizarre color comes from _____ put in a blender. Add extra ingredients and put the now flavored rice with deliciously cooked chicken and you are ready to eat.







4. Pollo con Mani

You can translate pollo con mani to peanut butter chicken, which can seem really gross, but in reality, pollo con mani is delicious! *Eat pollo con mani with rice for a yummy meal!


5. Pollo asado

Pollo asado is pollo con mani’s twin, just with no peanut butter! Pollo asado has paprika, chicken - made with garlic, cumin, and salt - and is served with rice and vegetables! Pollo asado is a tasty meal!


Desserts




6. Alfajores


An alfajor is two cookies coated in powdered sugar put together with dulce de leche, or a Spanish type of caramel. Yum! *If you have the time and the ingredients, making alfajores yourself is fun and eating your artwork afterwards makes everything worthwhile!







7. Helado de Lucuma

Lucuma is a fruit that is only found in Perú. Helado de lucuma is an ice cream made of lucuma.


8. Flan

Flan is a mixture of condensed and evaporated milk with vanilla, eggs, and sugar melted into a syrup. Be sure to save me a bite!







9. Turron

Turron; layers of hard cake put together with dulce de leche and decorated with hard candies! *Buy a box there and bring it home to share it with la familia (and me!).


10. Leche asada

Leche asada is a milk based pudding with cooked milk on top. The top is covered with cinnamon.



There you have it! You are sure to enjoy these foods if you decide to try them. As for the deserts, they will be a dream come true in your mouth! Have a nice trip and enjoy the food.

Great job Daniela! You are such a good writer! Your descriptive language made feel like I was tasting the food for real! Now I want to try some of these delicious-sounding foods!
