The RCMS Football Team

by Cayden S. and Jordan S.

This year, the Redlands Christian Middle School football team roster may surprise fans with many new players including 6th, 7th and 8th graders.

There are 2 new assistant coaches, Coach Griffiths and Coach Wright, also including Mr. DeJong There are also a lot of new players because of the new 6th graders and the old 8th graders that are now in high school. The whole team is basically completely different then last year.

8th grader, Cole F. said he “enjoys being on the football team. A good team takes leadership and communication and cooperation. Every game and practice everyone on the team has to have that mindset that I am doing this for the guy next to me.”

7th grader Carter D. said, “I like being on the football team because my dad is the coach. People not getting mad at each other makes a good team.”

The team this year has allowed 6th graders to play football, which is something they didn't allow last year. In fact, there are more 6th graders then 7th and 8th graders. Coach Mr. DeJong said, “The football team is learning well together. We are a young and inexperienced team, so we do have a lot to learn. The team has a lot of potential, so this time at the beginning of the season is critical. A good team is one that believes they can achieve together. Each team member needs to believe no one player is more important than another and that when they all challenge each other to become better, the team then becomes better.

In conclusion, the middle school football team will try their hardest and continue to play “for His Glory.” Go Eagles!!!
