7th grader Sanjana R. has had interesting experiences while traveling, both good and bad. Almost as soon as she was born, she visited Kerala. From a young age, she has shown an interest for Indian culture, despite how many people would judge her for it. ”I remember as a kid people would think I was weird for using my hand to eat food,” Sanjana states.
Sanjana expresses her views on culture shock, explaining she was shocked by some American customs and behavior, and that those same people were shocked by her customs and behavior. It would surprise many people if they had taken a trip to India. This goes to show how different cultures are so different and diverse, but amazing at the same time.
“Everywhere I have been I loved it so much! It has given me memories I will never forget ever in my life,” Sanjana exclaimed.
Her trips to India weren’t just for fun. Along her trips, she would meet new family members for the first time and reconnect with family and family friends. “My favorite memories will forever be the time with my cousin Meghana. We both have a special connection and whenever we are together it is a blast!” Sanjana exclaims. Sanjana remembers when she was little, Meghana and her would sneak out at night, go into the kitchen, and snack on some candy.
Sanjana has seen it all! From watching cows freely roam the streets to seeing the tallest tower in the world, Burj Khalifa! Sanjana has been to many parts of the world, ranging from luxurious and large Banglore to tropical Kerala! She states that traveling has made her more tolerant and able to withstand longer periods of time in a plane and being bored.
She has traveled many ways, one of which is an auto rickshaw. “They are technically all over India, but I feel like in Bangalore it is very special” Sanjana states. She describes how they are the size of a closet, but even smaller! They are only made for 2 people, yet she explains how her family fit 5 inside before.
Sanjana has many plans for her future in traveling. “I'm already planning a trip with my cousin out of the country after she finishes college,” she happily exclaims. Acknowledging the fact that she has been to so many places, she will most likely have a head start on traveling and be very patient on long flights!
Traveling is one of Sanjana's best interests, and she is obviously very good at it considering how much she has done it. Traveling has helped shape Sanjana into who she is today, and who she will become in the future.
I think that this is a great story!
