Recently RCMS students put on a production of Madagascar at the Eagle’s Nest on Friday, December 6 and Saturday, December 7. The show was a fun musical that the students enjoyed putting on.
“I was very happy when I got the main part,” said 8th grader Elizabeth H. Even the people who didn’t get as big of a part still had fun with the show. 7th grader Jacob B. said “I was happy to get any part.”
The students had fun, but there was also work to be done. Rehearsals lasted at least two and a half hours, and sometimes lasted four hours or more. The student also sacrificed sleep, which meant having to stay at school until 10 p.m. The students spent all of this time learning blocking, practicing songs, learning choreography, running the show, and spacing.
Elizabeth H. said “The most stressful thing for me was makeup, because I have never done it before.''
The hard work put in to the show paid off when the students performed a nearly flawless show on Saturday. However, tech issues during the Friday performance caused the music to skip curtain call, but the students handled the problem very well.
Overall, the cast of Madagascar handled the show very well, causing them to put on a magnificent, yet hilarious, musical. The cast will be celebrating during Christmas Break at the cast party.
