Review: Wonder Woman 1984

The definition of crossing your arms is being “anxious, resistant, tense, insecure, afraid, or responding to distress.” Sometimes when someone crosses their arms, they refer to Black Panther and they yell at the top of their lungs “Wakanda forever!” But this is a different story. Most people know that when Wonder Woman makes an X with her arms, it allows her to deflect large attacks. The movie Wonder Woman 1984 is new on HBO Max and in some theatres, and was not as good of a movie as I would have liked.

Gal Godot, the actress who plays Wonder Woman, sometimes is expressionless and tuned out of it like she's waiting for her line. The first act was also very slow with barely any action. There were only two times where there was an actual fight scene with Diana dressed up as Wonder Woman. Some other problems is that the character Maxwell Lord, who was played by Pedro Pascal, had his powers changed from being a telepath to granting people's wishes, and his son was worse. He was only there to grab at your heart, and he didn't do a good job because you already knew what was gonna happen. Another thing that I thought was a major problem was that Steve Trevor had returned through a wish that Diana had wished to the stone, and he wasn't even in Steve Trevor’s body. Instead, he was in the body of a stranger, and they didn’t even seem to care about him. The other villain Cheetah, played by Kristen Wiig, started out as a clumsy worker who turned into a villain just like Jamie Foxx’s Electro from The Amazing Spider-Man 2.

Overall, I thought this movie was clumsy and incorrectly written. If you liked this movie, then I recommend writing a review on why you like this movie. You're better off watching the Wonder Woman TV series that was made in 1975, it’s probably better Wonder Woman 1984. If you want to watch a movie with a bunch of 80’s nostalgia, almost zero action, where you know exactly what is going to happen next because of the bad writing, this is the movie for you.
