Review: Taking a Bite Into the History Behind This Quaint Little Bakery

Nothing Bundt Cakes. A picturesque location both young and old travel to, to indulge in their rich, creamy cakes, and frosting that will dance upon your taste buds as delicate as a ballerina. This modern-take on a classic cupcake has swept the nation, satisfying each customer with an overwhelming sensation in each bite they take.


Founded in 1997, bakers Dena Tripp and Debbi Shwetz first originated this hometown business in Las Vegas, Nevada. The collaboration between the two first came to be when Tripp brought over a plain, unfrosted cupcake to Shwetz’s house. And as Shwetz saw the cupcake, she realized something was missing from it, frosting. So as she questioned why her cream-cheese-and-butter frosting hadn’t appeared on it, Tripp responded saying that she couldn’t figure out how to apply frosting on a bundt cake. And after their continuous work on the cupcakes, as a result, they now have found the perfect combination between frosting and a bundt cake, currently owning over 100 units across the U.S.


From these many locations, I am fortunate enough to have my very own Nothing Bundt Cake Bakery right here in Redlands, California. Many would have to drive a great amount of distance, just to reach their bakery, while others like me, live just about 10 minutes away. One of the sole purposes why they even opened the bakery in the first place, was because their towns lack of cake businesses. So, that’s why they encourage many to enjoy the experience of tasting just a bite of their cakes, distance or no.


The first time I walked into the bakery, I was six years old. I had never heard about a bundt cake before, but as soon as I tasted one, I for a fact would surely never forget it. And as I walked out, a bite of red velvet cupcake stuffed in my mouth, I knew one thing for sure, I wanted more. And every single time since, I am brought back with a sense of reminisce as the taste of a red velvet cupcake, piped with delicious creamy white frosting floods my mouth.


In conclusion, Nothing Bundt Cakes is the perfect location either to indulge in their flavorful cupcakes (if you have a sweet tooth like me), or just satisfy a family member or friend with one of their many cakes for their birthday. But one thing I can tell you for sure about my experience with this bakery, is you’ll never experience anything like it. Many people may not realize this, but it’s more than just a cupcake when you bite into it, it’s like taking a bite into history.
