This year at RCMS there are many new students! Some of the new students are from places ranging from wild cities to smaller towns like Redlands. Learning about our new students can help us become more involved in our small RCS community and discover more about our students and why they came here.

Students switched to RCS for many different reasons, and we hope they feel comfortable here so far.

New 7th grader Rhys H, says, ¨I switched schools because the environment was just not for me. Also, I know a lot of my friends that go to Redlands Christian School.”

New 6th grade Kamryn B. says ¨I have made 3 friends, and before I went to Hemmerling Elementary School. ¨

Whether or not the new students knows someone here, we should all be friendly and inviting. It’s really tough having to switch schools and adapt into a totally new environment with new people, so we have to be as understanding as we can.

New 8th grader Ari C. says, “ I went to Cope middle school, [and I switched] because it seemed like it would be a good school for me. I feel good about it”.

New student 7th grader Claire S., shared that it was a little scary knowing that some kids have known each other since Pre-k. It's hard for new students to come to a new school. We try our best to make them feel like they are welcomed and make them feel as though they have a place at our school.

Here at RCMS, we try our best to make everyone feel welcomed. As our school grows, we hope that our understanding of these obstacles can too. To all the new students, remember that you have a whole community of people who are willing to be your friends.
