In mid-August of 2018, Jeshurun J. decided to join cross-country to build up his endurance to play other sports he enjoys, including basketball and soccer. Jeshurun said, “My dad likes to play cricket, and he likes to keep us all healthy by taking us on hikes, and other activities.”

Jeshurun really enjoys hiking with his family; he enjoys it much better than his sister. But his sister is also very active, she does swimming competitively at meets.

One year later from that long season of cross-country on a sunny Thursday morning, Jeshurun came into the classroom right before the bell and sat down. He said, "My endurance has been getting better and better since I first started.”

Sitting back in his dish chair, wearing grey khaki shorts, a cactus shirt, and Nike Air Max shoes, he answered each question I gave him starting with “Um...” As I started asking Jeshurun questions like what hobbies he has, he replied, “ Uh, my hobbies are playing video games, sports, and hanging out with friends.” As I was in the middle of my interview, the bell rang when I was about to ask my next question.

The next day, as Jeshurun ran as fast as he could, he slipped in before the bell. We began his interview up again and he said, “When do we start?” Jeshurun told me he has a puppy named Adam who they got from Tanya’s Incorporation. He has a younger sister named Abigail, and says, “I love it when she brings back art for me and my family.”

Jeshurun will continue doing cross-country to build up his endurance. He also said,” I may or may not continue doing cross-country in high school, only if it doesn’t get too much in the way of my academics.”
