Have you ever thought you will never be able to survive middle school? It’s hard navigating yourself from class to class, keeping your grades up, and having mountains of homework each night, but there are many tips on surviving it all. There are tips about the class schedule, the dress code, the snack bar, homework, and red slips.
The class schedule is a very important thing and many students have trouble memorizing it, but after a few weeks you will get used to it. Maybe to speed up the process, you could memorize it for a minute or so before you go to bed. It also helps if you put it in the front (in the clear part) of your binder or put it in the first pocket or ring.
Mrs. Brown said, “I’m happy with the schedule if you're happy with it.”
The dress code can be hard to follow if you have only a limited amount of clothes. One way to help is to keep your dress code paper on your dresser, or have it with you if you go shopping. Violating the dress code could result in detention or Saturday school + a $20 fee. For both boys and girls your hair has to be a natural color, appropriately styled and kept clean. Piercings are not allowed except for on the ear and the maximum is two earrings for girls and none for boys. If you have tattoos they can’t be visible, so you have to cover it with something.
Leggings, jeggings, and tight fitting pants are not allowed unless you're wearing a loose top that is not shorter than 8 inches all around from the ground while kneeling down. If wearing ripped jeans, the rips or frays must below the knee. Shorts must be no shorter than 6 inches from the ground while kneeling on the ground. Skirts and dresses have to be 4 inches or below from the ground while kneeling. Makeup has to be natural if wearing some.
The snack bar is where you can purchase lunch, breakfast, or snacks. It is in between the high school and the Eagle Arena. If you bring any money to school, you can give it to Mrs. Brown in the front office and she will give you a receipt.
Homework can be very stressful trying to remember what you have without your parents reminding you. Here are a couple of tips to help you remember. Every student has a planner, so write down your homework in it; and when you have a test or quiz, also check Renweb/Facts.
Red slips can result into a detention, one red slip is just a warning, second red slip means that your parents will be called, and the third red slip means a detention. Detention happens before school for 30 minutes and you have to pay a $10 fee.
You can have your phone with you at school but you have to silence it before school because it will most likely be taken away by the teacher if it goes off. Also if your phone is out and seen, it will probably be taken away too. You can get your phone at the end of the school day in Mrs. Brown’s office.
Hopefully these tips will help you with homework, dress code, etc. These can help you survive middle school for the rest of the year, and longer.
