This year, the Student Leadership Team has been working harder to get more activities and community services the students to participate in. They’ve been adding some new things to help make middle school more enjoyable.
One of the things the SLT planned was Spirit Week. Spirit Week was an opportunity for everyone to show school spirit and participate in a fun, week long activity. The Spirit Week days consisted of superhero/supervillain day, twin day, backwards day, throwback/decade, and spirit day.It was held homecoming week and was a way for the middle school to interact with the high school’s activities.
8th grader, Maryann G., said “I really liked the decades day because it was really cool to see everyone's interpretations of each decade.”
A popular event the Student Leadership Team put on last year was the dance. It was a way to end off the year with something exciting. 8th grader, Sakiah W., said “My favorite event would be the dance because I got to hang out with my friends and just be myself.”
The dance was one of the overall favorite events from people who attended last year. 8th grader and Student Leadership member, Maryann G., said “It was a lot of work to plan but in the end everyone had a good time.” The Student Leadership Team hopes to make it even better this year.
Overall, Student Leadership is a great thing to be apart of and they help to make the year more fun for everyone. They’re hoping to make everyone’s middle school experience enjoyable and fun. 8th grader and Student Leadership member, Maryann G., said “I really enjoy setting up events and seeing the outcome of everybody having an amazing time.” So far the events this year have gone great and they’re hoping to continue with a great year.
