Bathroom Passes

By Jaxson A. and Carter D.

You won’t believe what happened last school year when some middle school boys trashed the boys bathroom!

On October 23, 2021 during 4th period, the principal turned on the microphone and said that the boys bathroom was destroyed and closed off for the day. After that the boys had to go to the front office and get a bathroom pass. They also had to write down their name and what time they came on a sheet of paper. That wasn't that bad for the middle school boys.

However, this year everyone received two small sheets of paper which are conveniently bathroom passes. Let's see how the students like them.

Amelia R., an 8th grader said, “Many things can happen that relate to using the bathroom, such as sickness, stomach issues, and other emergencies. I understand that we should use it during passing periods or breaks..., but they should give at least 4 or 5, because 4-5 seems like the maximum amount needed to use the restroom each quarter."

Also a 7th grader named John O. said,“ I am not the biggest fan of bathroom passes... I don’t think we should have 2 bathroom passes a quarter, but have 3 a quarter.”

Office administrator, Mrs. Batalo said, “ It teaches accountability and lessons.” She also said, “if this ends up being a good system, we will keep it.”

7th grader Brogan S. said, “ I don’t go to the bathroom in school and I think the bathroom passes are a good idea.”

Bathroom passes is a good way for students to learn from past mistakes and stop doing it.
