Do you like painting or signing ASL? Well, this December, the American Sign Language class in Redlands Christian Middle School is going to spend their last week of class doing a fun final project that will gather up all of what they’ve learned.
For this project, the students must choose one sign to do, while displaying it with paint on their hands. Whether they choose to sign an animal, or some other sign, (for example an apple), they’re sure to have fun.
They will be for example, painting an apple on their hand, they would be painting their fist red, and their one finger brown. They will be signing it with their apple painted on their hands. They will be going one at a time.
7th grader Melanie S. says, “I think it’s going to be a fun project. Also I think it’s a creative project that Mr. Beebe assigned.”
Mr. Beebe has chosen this project because he thought it would be fun way to test what they have learned so far. He got this idea from Mrs. Hitt, the high school ASL teacher. She did this project with her high school students already, and showed him some of the pictures she took of her students' signs and paintings.
8th grader Kaelyn G. says, “I’m excited to do it, and I think it’s a cool way to remember signs.”
Everyone had a fun time preparing and got to enjoy painting each other. There so many things signed and painted: an ice-cream, a tree, a rose, hockey, a person dancing, and more.
