Life of a Mii
By Will M.
He dashes across the court, swinging his racket lightning fast as the ball is returned right back to him. His name is Matt, and his day is dominated by playing sports with the new Miis that challenge him. Matt’s favorite sport to play is boxing, as he will destroy anyone who tries to best him. I, myself, have once attempted to defeat him. Matt is a behemoth, a monster, if you will, in the ring. He trains day and night and invites anyone to join him. But be warned! If you are not consistent, perfect with every shot, you will be beaten as he watches himself with those cold, unchanging eyes.
He dedicated himself to all things athletic at an early age. Matt used to be just like any other young Mii; waiting to be selected by a player, training occasionally. It was around age fifteen when his peers noticed something special, something different about Matt. Was it the way he finished his punches, or the way he sprinted for the ball? Could it have been the way he swung his racket, perfect, without miss? Nevertheless, it was evident that he was simply built differently. One day, while doing his junior rotation, a trainer walked up to Matt and asked,
“Would you care to join our team?’’ You see, it is every young Miis dream to be asked away by a trainer; it secured the rest of their life.
“Would I!” replied Matt, “This is amazing! When do I start?”
“Hold on now. First, we’ve gotta see what you can do. Follow me.”
They walked to the other side of pristine town, where the trainers resided with the players.
”Here’s where we’ll be working. Be here at 8a.m. tomorrow morning.” said Logan, Matt’s experienced trainer. Matt found his way to the common house, the place where all potential new trainees lived. On the wall was a picture of “fast hands” Tom, the best trainer alive.
“That’ll be me one day”, whispered Matt to himself.
8a.m. came, and for the next week, Matt put his athletic ability to the test. Showing up all others in boxing, golf, baseball, tennis, bowling, and more, the trainers were thoroughly impressed.
At the end of the week, Matt was selected to go to the next level of testing, where he would go up against beginning trainers. In two weeks, his abilities would truly be matched.
When returned to his childhood house of shenanigans, all of Matt’s friends praised him. He slept well that night; he was glad to be home.
Two weeks came and passed, and it was now time to enter the next stage of training. Matt arrived excited as can be to the immaculate facilities. His hopes were soon lessened as he saw his competition. Matt toughened up, and got ready for the week to come.
At first, he was schooled in every area. Beaten down, he almost gave up hope. But when the time came for boxing, Matt knew he would win. Sizing his opponents up, he quickly realized their footing was off. He threw a powerful hook, and it brought Matt’s enemy down. Hit after hit, Matt eventually won. This brought great attention to him, as defeating men of such size was nearly impossible. As the week went on, Matt grew ever more confident, beginning to win in any sport you ask.
At the closing ceremony, Matt was selected to become the next trainer. His lifelong dream had been fulfilled. After celebrating that night, he returned home as his animals greeted him. His new job started in a month, so he went on many adventures with his friends. On one occasion, Matt fell down a mine shaft, spraining his ankle. This was bad news. A trainers first month was the most consequential, and his ankle wouldn’t be better for 3 weeks.
A week later, when his first day on the job rolled around, Matt was in dire pain. He pushed through and made it. This was going to be a long two weeks. In spite of the pain, Matt upheld his standard of excellence. When his peers found out that he had a sprained ankle, they were in shock. Word spread, and Matt’s reputation built even higher.
At last, Matt became a public trainer, one of the highest honors a Mii can get. Training real players was hard work. The Miis they create for themselves looked very odd, ranging from a hamburger head to a vampire. Matt became familiar with some of them, and played with them for years. Players began to like Matt, and he rose through the ranks. Matt was so popular that Tom became a name in the past. Magazines and interviews were made, all with his face on the front.
“How have you been able to train so many players for this long?” they would ask.
“It’s my job, and I love it!” Matt replied.
Humility was important to Matt, and he never let the fame go to his head. On one peculiar day, as the people were enjoying their everyday lives, a message came in to all of the Miis. “On May 20, 2014, the public Wii connection will be lost. Thank you for playing.” Everyone was thrown into a frenzy. Friends and loved ones would be lost. People were scared. Destruction ran rapid in the streets. No one was safe as buildings burned, as panic and chaos spread more and more
For months, nothing was the same. Looking around, parts of the once beautiful city became moonscape; empty of life and dusted with ash.
Through this, Matt stayed strong, and became a leader for the Miis.
“There is nothing that we can do to change this, so we might as well enjoy our time as it lasts. Go out, enjoy your friends and family; have fun.”
It took a while, but eventually, the crowds flocked and listened to him. The destruction was stopped, and people decided to have fun. Life was perfect again for the Miis, and it was gone in an instant.
