Seventh grade advisories are on an important mission: Kiva. Kiva is a website where you can loan money to those who are in need in other countries. It gives each business a little boost to get what they need, and when they have what they need, you get your money back.

These entrepreneurs on Kiva ask for a certain amount of money so that they can get what they need for their business or family. You can choose how much money to loan to help someone start a new business, such as a coffee shop, or you can loan money to help them buy a cow. There are people all over the world who need help, and YOU can help them get back on their feet.

The seventh graders have raised a lot of money to help different people all over the world.

Mr. Beebe’s advisory had a bake sale to raise money to loan to someone in South America who needed farming equipment and livestock. Their advisory sold doughnuts to the RCMS students. They raised a little over $60-- reaching that total by selling doughnuts for $1 (and $2 for jelly-filled!)

Mr. Van Soelen’s advisory had their bake sale on Valentine's Day and brought in a total that was over $100 by selling all sorts of desserts, such as brownies and cake pops.

Mrs. Phillip’s advisory sold hot chocolate, marshmallows, doughnuts and cookies in the morning-- a nice start to the day. They raised over $90 for Kiva.

And finally, Mrs. Keirns' advisory class raised the most money for their Kiva project. As an advisory class, they decided to help farmers in South America purchase livestock. Their bake sales brought in a total of about $460.00!

Overall, it was a great experience for the 7th grade class.
